Sunday's National Girls and Women in Sports Day Activities Cancelled

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Activities involving National Girls and Women’s in Sports Day that were scheduled to take place prior to the Virginia women’s basketball game on Sunday (Jan. 24) at John Paul Jones Arena have been cancelled due to the threat of inclement weather.

The cancelled activities included a pregame youth sports festival and a pregame reception to honor the 1991 NCAA champion Virginia women’s lacrosse team. The team will be honored at the home women’s lacrosse game against North Carolina on March 12. Make up dates are being considered for the youth sports festival at another home women’s basketball game this season. There will also be a youth sports festival held prior to the UVA-UNC women’s lacrosse game on March 12.

The Atlantic Coast Conference basketball game between Virginia and Pitts remains scheduled to tip off at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Updates regarding inclement weather impacting this contest will be posted on VirginiaSports.com as well as through the Virginia athletics and Virginia women’s basketball social media accounts.
