Virginia to Compete at McCravy Memorial Meet

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.-The Virginia men’s and women’s track and field teams head to Lexington, Ky., this weekend (Jan. 22-23) to compete in the Rod McCravy Memorial Meet at Nutter Field House.
The men’s heptathlon begins at 10 a.m. each day, while the rest of the action is set for a 3 p.m. start on Friday and an 11 a.m. start on Saturday.
Live results will be available at VirginiaSports.com, while Saturday’s action from noon on is set to be broadcast on SEC Network+, ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app.
The field is set to feature ranked teams including No. 2 Georgia, No. 6 Florida, No. 8 Kentucky, No. 11 Baylor, No. 17 Miami and No. 22 Clemson on the women’s side and No. 1 Florida, No. 6 Georgia, No. 18 Virginia and No. 25 Houston on the men’s side.
The meet will mark the season debut of the Cavaliers’ throws and distance groups, including redshirt sophomore Filip Mihaljevic (Livno, Bosnia and Herzegovina), who was a 2015 second-team All-American and ACC Champion in the indoor shot put, and the men’s distance medley relay that placed sixth at the 2015 NCAA Championships.
Last week at the season-opening Virginia Tech Invitational, sophomore Bridget Guy (Greensburg, Pa.) broke the women’s pole vault record with a height of 4.12m (13′ 6.25″), a mark that is currently ranked 12th in the country.
The Cavaliers return to action next weekend (Jan. 29-30) for the John Thomas Terrier Invitational in Boston.
