CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 18 Virginia (5-3) wrestling team will host No. 10 Virginia Tech (9-2) at 2 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Gym as part of the Commonwealth Clash.

Admission to all wrestling matches is free to the public.

Sunday’s match is sponsored by Virginia529, the official college savings plan of University of Virginia Athletics. The Cavaliers In The Rankings:
The Cavaliers enter Sunday’s match with the Hokies ranked as highly as No. 18 in the NWCA/USA Today Coaches Poll. A pair of Virginia wrestlers are also ranked in the latest release of the InterMat rankings, with George DiCamillo (Highland Heights, Ohio) and Zach Nye (Enola, Pa.) making an appearance.

The Matchup:
The matchup between Virginia and Virginia Tech features a pair of nationally ranked teams with the both squads in the top 20 nationally. Virginia Tech ranks No. 10 in the latest coaches poll, while the Cavaliers are No. 18. Both teams also feature nationally-ranked wrestlers with the Cavaliers having two in the top 20 and the Hokies have eight wrestlers ranked in the top 20. The 149-pound weight class is the only one that does not features a ranked wrestler from either team.

The matchup of the afternoon to watch comes at 197 pounds with No. 10 Zach Nye of Virginia expected to face off against No. 8 Jared Haught of Virginia Tech.

Up Next For The Cavaliers:
Virginia will be busy next week, continuing a stretch of dual meets at Memorial Gym. Due to the inclement weather last weekend, the Cavaliers shuffled the schedule and will now wrestle on back-to-back days next weekend. Virginia will host Duke at 7 p.m. on Friday (Feb. 5) before facing off against No. 14 North Carolina at 1 p.m. on Saturday (Feb. 6).
