BLACKSBURG, Va.-The No. 18 Virginia men’s track and field team finished action Saturday (Feb. 6) at the Doc Hale Elite Meet in Blacksburg, Va.

Redshirt freshman Oghenakpobo Efekoro (Brooklyn, N.Y.) won the shot put with a throw of 18.82m (61′ 9″), which ranks fourth on UVA’s all-time list and third on UVA’s freshman list. The mark also currently ranks 12th nationally.

“Pobo is really coming into his own,” UVA director of track and field/cross country Bryan Fetzer said. “He is getting more consistent each competition and is ready for a big one.”

Also in the shot put, junior Anthony Dunavant (Franklin, Tenn.) placed 11th with a mark of 13.37m (43′ 10.5″).

In the open 200 meters, senior Scott Clarke (Devonshire, Bermuda) finished 18th in 22.57, while freshman Jake Dixon (Falmouth, Maine) placed 20th in 22.59.

The Cavaliers return to action Friday (Feb. 12) for the Fastrack National Qualifier Invite in Staten Island, N.Y.
