The Cavaliers are currently tied for 10th place in the ACC and have three games remaining on the regular-season schedule, taking on 15th-place Clemson on Sunday followed by North Carolina (14-14, 4-9 ACC), one of the teams the Cavaliers are tied with in 10th place, before finishing with a game at 13th-place Virginia Tech (15-11, 3-10 ACC). Seeds 10-15 of the ACC Tournament play on the first day of the conference tournament on Wednesday, March 2 at the Greensboro Coliseum. Seeds 5-9 will receive a first-round bye with the top-four seeds earning a double-bye into Friday’s quarterfinals.

Virginia is coming off a 74-59 loss on Thursday night (Feb. 18) at No. 11 Louisville, the Cavaliers seventh loss in the last eight games. Clemson has lost its last 14 games and has yet to log a victory in 2016. The Tigers last win was a 67-49 victory at home on Dec. 21 against UNC Asheville.

Virginia holds a 40-30 edge in the all-time series, including winning the last two meetings and 11 of the last 13 matchups.

Senior guard Faith Randolph (Derwood, Md.), in just her second game back after missing nine games with a broken right thumb, scored a team-high 17 points at Louisville. Randolph was 7-of-17 shooting with both her highest point totals and shot attempts since scoring 26 points on 9-of-18 shooting at Ohio State on Dec. 21. Randolph also had five of Virginia’s seven steals against the Cardinals.

Sophomore guard Mikayla Venson (Arlington, Va.) moved one three-pointer closer to the Virginia record book on Thursday night. Venson hit her 59th three-pointer of the season, two shy of matching her season tally of 61 from last year (which was the fourth highest single-season total in program history) and four shy of matching the program’s record for most three-pointers in a season. Venson, who made three treys at BC last Sunday, is also four makes shy of tying for 10th place in the Virginia record book for made-threes in a career. Randolph is also approaching the career top-10 for made threes. Venson presently has 120 threes in her career while Randolph has 112.

The Cavaliers have one more home game on the schedule for this season, hosting North Carolina on Thursday, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. at John Paul Jones Arena. There will be a short Senior Day ceremony before the game honoring UVA’s lone fourth-year, guard Faith Randolph.
