New Orleans, La. – The 26th-ranked Virginia women’s golf team finished 11th at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate in New Orleans, La. The Cavaliers shot 11-over 299 during Tuesday’s final round for a three-day total of 25-over 889.

Florida, ranked No. 11, took the team title at 2-under 862, one shot ahead of 13th-ranked Oklahoma State. No. 7 Alabama was third at 868. Defending NCAA champion Stanford finished one stroke better than UVA in 10th place. The 17-team field included 12 teams currently ranked in Golfstat’s top-50.

Senior Elizabeth Szokol (Winnetka, Ill.) led Virginia with a 25th-place finish at 4-over 220. She shot 78 during the final round. Junior Lauren Diaz-Yi (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) was 42nd at 8-over 224. She posted a final round score of even par 72.

Senior Lauren Coughlin (Chesapeake, Va.) and freshman Morgan Gonzales (Chandler, Ariz.) tied for 48th at 225. Coughlin posted a final round score of 77 while Gonzales finished with a 75. Freshman Anna Redding (Concord, N.C.) also shot 3-over 75 during the final 18 holes and was 55th overall at 227.

Michigan State’s Sarah Burnham and LSU’s Sydney Cavin tied for first place at 5-under 211.

The Cavaliers are off until March 4-6 when they compete at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, S.C.
