Charlottesville, Va. – The No. 32 Virginia women’s golf team heads to South Carolina this weekdn for the fifth annual Darius Rucker Intercollegiate that starts Friday, March 4, and runs through Sunday, March 6. The 17-team field will compete at the par-71, 6,208-yard Long Cove Club in Hilton Head, S.C.

The tournament field consists of 12 teams currently ranked in the Golfstat top-50 poll and the top five teams in the nation. The field includes host school South Carolina (37), Alabama (4), Arkansas (3), Auburn, Duke (2), Furman (27), Georgia (5), Kentucky, LSU, North Carolina (45), Mississippi State, Oklahoma State (10), USC (1), Tennessee (21), Vanderbilt (42) and Wake Forest.

Virginia’s lineup will include senior Elizabeth Szokol (Winnetka, Ill.), junior Lauren Diaz-Yi (Thousand Oaks, Calif.), senior Lauren Coughlin (Chesapeake, Va.), and freshmen Morgan Gonzales (Chandler, Ariz.) and Anna Redding (Concord, N.C.). Coughlin leads the team with a 72.72 stroke average and is ranked No. 44 in the latest Golfweek standings. Either she or Szokol have led the team in scoring in all six matches this season.

First- and second-round play begins at 8:30 a.m. and Sunday’s final round will start at 8 a.m. Live scoring will be available online at Golfstat.com.

Virginia finished fifth at the inaugural Rucker Intercollegiate in 2012, was eighth last year.
