CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia (6-9) softball team continues to play on the road this weekend, traveling to UNCW to compete at the Seahawk Softball Showcase with two games each against UNCW and Radford at Boseman Field.

The Cavaliers will open play against UNCW at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday before closing out the first day at 3 p.m. against Radford. Virginia will then play again on Sunday, facing both teams at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.

Virginia is coming off a winning weekend at the Spartan Classic hosted by USC Upstate last weekend that saw the Cavaliers go 3-2 with wins over Ohio, La Salle and Furman.

The Cavaliers are led at the plate by junior Katie Park (Scottsdale, Ariz.) with a .447 batting average, 21 RBI and four home runs. She leads the squad in all three categories. Iyana Hughes (Manteca, Calif.) leads the team with 16 runs scored and has added three home runs while going 7-of-8 on steal attempts.

Virginia is hitting .296 as a team with 18 home runs, 78 runs scored and 72 RBI on the season.

In the circle, the Cavaliers have been led by Erika Osherow (Darien, Conn.) with eight starts in 12 appearances, and Lacy Smith (Lancaster, Pa.) with six starts in eight appearances. Osherow holds a 4-7 record with seven complete games and one shutout on the season. She has a 4.15 ERA with 41 strikeouts through 57.1 innings of work. Smith has a 1-1 record with a 5.92 ERA, a save and one complete game in her 23.2 innings of work.

The tournament at UNCW continues four consecutive weekends on the road to start the season for Virginia and is part of a stretch of eight games on the road in five days. Virginia will continue to play on the road next week, traveling to Towson and George Washington for doubleheaders on Tuesday and Wednesday.
