CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 4 Virginia rowing team opens the 2016 spring season on Saturday-Sunday (March 12-13) at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational on Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
The two-day event will feature morning and afternoon racing on Saturday as well as morning racing on Sunday. Racing on the 2,000-meter course at the Melton Lake Rowing Venue is slated to begin at 9:14 a.m., ET each day, while Saturday’s afternoon session is slated to begin at 3:10 p.m. Real-time results for the event will be provided through the Louisville rowing twitter account (@UofLRowing), while final results at the end of each day will be published on Row2K.com and VirginiaSports.com.
The Cavaliers will have seven crews competing in three sessions over the two days. On Saturday morning, UVA boats will race against No. 11 Michigan, No. 17 Notre Dame, No. 20 Louisville, Clemson and Central Florida. On Saturday afternoon, the Cavaliers will face Kansas, Michigan State and Notre Dame. On Sunday, Virginia will compete against Clemson, Central Florida, Oklahoma and Louisville.
Virginia hosts Yale on Sunday, March 20 on the Rivanna River in Earlysville, Va.
