GREENSBORO, N.C.-Virginia junior Henry Wynne has been named the ACC Men’s Indoor Track Performer of the Year, the conference announced Friday (March 18).

Wynne (Westport, Conn.) becomes the first Virginia student-athlete to earn a year-end ACC indoor award since Ben Kurgat was named ACC Performer of the Year in 1991, when the both the track and field awards were combined into one honor.

Wynne captured the NCAA title in the mile in 4:06.63 March 12 in Birmingham, Ala., leading the Cavaliers to a program-best eighth-place finish. He also won the mile and anchored the conference champion distance medley relay at the ACC Championships in Boston in February. Wynne’s anchor mile split in the DMR was 3:56.37. Wynne’s efforts helped UVA finish third in the team standings.

In January, Wynne became the third Cavalier to break the four-minute barrier in the mile when he clocked a time of 3:58.74 and broke the school record in the 3,000 meters in 7:53.89 in February.
