CHICAGO, Ill. – No. 1 seed Virginia (28-7) plays No. 4 seed Iowa State (23-11) in the Midwest Regional semifinals of the NCAA Tournament on Friday, March 25. Tipoff at United Center (21,223) is set for 7:10 p.m. ET.
Â• The fourth-ranked Cavaliers are making their ninth NCAA Sweet 16 appearance (1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1989, 1993, 1995, 2014, 2016).
Â• Virginia meets Iowa State for the first time in the NCAA Tournament and fourth time overall.
Â• UVA ranks Nos. 1, 4 and 6 in the KenPom.com overall, adjusted defense and adjusted offense efficiency ratings, respectively.
Â• UVA ranks third nationally in scoring defense (59.5 ppg), seventh in field goal shooting (49.1%) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.56), 10th in 3-point field goal shooting (40.8%), 16th in free throw shooting (75.4%) and tied for 18th in scoring margin (11.3).
