GAINESVILLE, Fla.–The Virginia women’s track and field team finished action on the second day of the Florida Relays Friday (April 1) at Pressly Stadium in Gainesville, Fla.

Sophomore Bridget Guy (Greensburg, Pa.) placed fourth in the pole vault with a height of 4.05m (13′ 3.5″).

In the 400m hurdles, junior Heather Smith (Chesapeake, Va.) won her heat and finished 10th overall in 59.87, while graduate student Aisha Naibe-Wey (London, England) placed 14th in 1:00.37.

Junior Christine Bohan (Avon Lake, Ohio) was 16th in the discus with a throw of 45.08m (147′ 11″), while sophomore Carter Green (Ashland, Pa.) finished 23rd with a mark of 42.23m (138′ 6″).

Senior Peyton Chaney (Belleville, Ill.) placed 18th in the 100 meters with a time of 11.52 (wind-aided).

Chaney was also a part of the 4x400m relay that finished 14th in 3:43.44. The UVA lineup was Naibe-Wey, Chaney, who split 54.5, Smith and junior Andrea Wright (Chesapeake, Va.).

“One of our main goals for the trip was to prepare us for the championship part of our season in May,” UVA director of track and field/cross country Bryan Fetzer said. “We learned a lot from today, from the positive and the negative.”

The meet concludes Saturday (April 2) with Cavalier action starting at 1 p.m.
