Jay Aiello To Join Virginia Wrestling Program

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia head coach Steve Garland announced Monday (April 4) that Jay Aiello (Chantilly, Va.) has signed a financial aid agreement and will join the program for the 2016-17 academic year.

Aiello is the latest addition to a class that featured seven wrestlers signed in the fall. He comes to the Cavaliers from Westfield High School.

With a 139-39 record for his career, Aiello is a three-time NHSCAA All-American and a senior nationals champion. He is also a two-time FloNationals All-American and advanced to the finals of the 2016 FloNationals. Aiello also finished fifth at the 2015 Beast of the East tournament.

Aiello placed three times in the Virginia state championships and won the 2016 state championship at 195 pounds. He was also named the 2015 Virginia Player of the Year in football for class 6A.
