Portsmouth Invitational
Outgoing #UVAMBB senior center Mike Tobey has accepted an invitation to play in the Portsmouth Invitational on Wednesday-Saturday, April 13-16 at Churchland High School in Portsmouth, Va. Sixty-four seniors from across the country will put their skills on display for scouts from the NBA and European leagues during the four-day tournament. Former Cavalier Darion Atkins was named MVP of the event last season. The Daily Press wrote this tournament preview.
Ruffin McNeill took a “Time Out” before joining head coach Bronco Mendenhall’s staff with UVA football. ESPN’s Andrea Adelson writes about how McNeill’s boat named “Time Out” helped him during his transition from the head coach of East Carolina to his new position as associate head coach with the Cavaliers.
This graphic from the #ITA says it all, but we’d also like to add that said No. 1 tennis team will be taking on No. 7 Wake Forest on Friday afternoon with the ACC regular-season title on the line while the No. 13 UVA women’s team will also be hosting Pitt in a key conference match with both matches taking place in a simultaneous doubleheader at 3 p.m. at Snyder Tennis Center. In today’s Daily Progress, Whitelaw Reid lists all of the other activities going on around the two matches including face painters, skills clinics and more.
