CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia men’s tennis senior Ryan Shane (Falls Church, Va.) has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week in honors announced Tuesday (April 19) by the league.

Last weekend, Shane helped Virginia earn wins over No. 7 Wake Forest and Miami with two singles and two doubles victories over ranked opponents. In singles, Shane took down Wake Forest’s No. 14 Skander Mansouri and No. 37 Piotr Lomacki of Miami. Shane partnered with junior Luca Corinteli (Alexandria, Va.) in doubles as they earned wins over the No. 14 pair of Mansouri and Christian Seraphim from Wake Forest and the No. 72 team of Max Andrews and Bernard Tefel of Miami. Shane is currently ranked No. 8 in singles and No. 2 in doubles.

This is the third ACC Player of the Week honor of Shane’s career and the first for a Cavalier player this season.

The postseason begins this week for the Cavaliers as they head to Cary, N.C. for the 2016 ACC Men’s Tennis Championship, being held at the Cary Tennis Park. As the top seed, Virginia will begin play on Friday, April 22 at 1 p.m., in the quarterfinals, facing the winner of Thursday’s 8 vs. 9 match between NC State and Clemson. Saturday’s semifinal match and Sunday’s championship match will stream online on ESPN3.
