CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Four Virginia baseball players have been named to watch lists for several national awards, including the Golden Spikes, Pitcher of the Year and John Olerud Two-Way Player awards. The watch lists all were announced Wednesday.

Three Cavaliers — Adam Haseley (So., Windermere, Fla.), Connor Jones (Jr., Chesapeake, Va.) and Matt Thaiss (Jr., Jackson, N.J.) — were named to the midseason watch list for the Golden Spikes Award, which is presented to the top amateur baseball player in the country. Virginia joined Louisville and Vanderbilt with the most honorees on the midseason watch list.

Haseley and Jones also were named to the watch list for the Pitcher of the Year Award.

Kevin Doherty (Sr., Laytonsville, Md.) joined Haseley on the watch list John Olerud Two-Way Player Award. UVA was the lone school to have multiple players on the list.

Thaiss was named to the initial watch list for the Johnny Bench Award earlier this season. The award is presented to the nation’s top catcher.
