CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.-Virginia juniors Filip Mihaljevic and Henry Wynne have earned ACC Track and Field weekly honors, the conference announced Tuesday (April 26).

Mihaljevic (Livno, Bosnia and Herzegovina), the ACC Men’s Field Performer of the Week, picked up two event wins at the Virginia Challenge. The junior won the discus invite on Friday evening (April 22) with a season-best throw of 62.07m (203′ 8″), which ranks first in the ACC and fourth in the NCAA. On Saturday (April 23), Mihaljevic captured the shot put invite title with a mark of 19.96m (65′ 6″), which ranks first in the conference and fifth in the nation.

Wynne (Westport, Conn.), the ACC Men’s Track Performer of the Week, broke the UVA, Lannigan Field and Virginia Challenge meet record in the 1,500 meters Saturday night (April 23), winning in a time of 3:38.05, which is the top time in the NCAA this year. Wynne’s section in the 1,500 meters featured six of the top-nine times in the country. For his efforts, Wynne was also named the U.S. Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division I Male National Athlete of the Week.

This is Wynne’s second weekly conference honor of his career and it is Mihaljevic’s fifth career ACC weekly award.
