CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.-Virginia junior runner Henry Wynne has been named the Division I Male National Athlete of the Week by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, the USTFCCCA announced Tuesday.

Wynne (Westport, Conn.) broke the UVA, Lannigan Field and Virginia Challenge meet record in the 1,500 meters Saturday night (April 23), winning in a time of 3:38.05, which is the top time in the NCAA this year. Wynne’s section in the 1,500 meters featured six of the top-nine times in the country.

Wynne captured the NCAA title in the mile at the NCAA Indoor Championships in March and was the ACC Champion in the mile and the distance medley relay at the ACC Indoor Championships in February.
