CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia women’s lacrosse team had four players earn Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association All-South Region honors, the IWLCA announced on Friday (May 13).

Senior midfielder Mary Alati (Glen Ridge, N.J.), sophomore attacker Kasey Behr (Northport, N.Y.), junior defender Maggie Preas (Rockville, Md.) and sophomore goalkeeper Rachel Vander Kolk (Severna Park, Md.) were named to the second team. This is the first all-region honor for all four players.

The IWLCA has named 128 student-athletes in Division I with a selection to one of the All-Region teams for 2016. These student-athletes are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-American teams, which will be announced on Wednesday May 18. The IWLCA will honor the National All-Americans at the IWLCA All-American banquet on Saturday June 4, 2016 at the Radisson Hotel Valley Forge in King of Prussia, PA.

A member of the 2016 All-ACC Second Team, Alati serves as a co-captain this season for the Cavaliers. Alati leads UVA with 35 ground balls and 22 caused turnovers. She has been consistent across the field, adding eight goals, 15 assists and 12 draw controls.

Behr is one of the lead attackers for UVA, with 39 points on the season after tallying a team-best 36 goals and adding three assists. The All-ACC Second Team selection has also grabbed 35 draw controls and 17 ground balls on the year. Behr has scored multiple goals in 13 games this season.

Preas has anchored the Cavalier defensive unit, picking up 23 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers. An All-ACC Second Team selection, Preas also ranks third on the team with 34 draw controls. Preas tallied a career-high 11 draws in the win at Navy.

Vander Kolk has been solid in goal for UVA this season. Named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List, Vander Kolk has played all but nine minutes in goal with 126 saves. She has also grabbed 35 ground balls and ranks third in the ACC with 7.41 saves per game.
