JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-The Virginia women’s track and field team finished action on the second day of the NCAA East Preliminaries Friday (May 27) at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla.

At the preliminary meet, each individual event (excluding the heptathlon and decathlon) has 48 competitors, while relays have 24 teams. The top 12 from every event will move on to the NCAA Outdoor Championships, to be held in Eugene, Ore., on June 8-11.

Graduate student Iona Lake (Norwich, England) finished 16th in the 3,000m steeplechase in a time of 10:11.44.

In the pole vault, sophomore Bridget Guy (Greensburg, Pa.) placed 27th, clearing a height of 3.95m (12′ 11.5″).

Senior Peyton Chaney (Belleville, Ill.) finished 29th in the 200 meters with a time of 23.74.

Sophomore Carter Green (Ashland, Pa.) placed 43rd in the discus with a mark of 43.35m (142′ 2″).

The preliminary meet concludes Saturday with action beginning at 3 p.m. Junior Christine Bohan (Avon Lake, Ohio) will compete in the shot put, sophomore Megan Rebholz (Stafford, Va.) and freshman Emily Mulhern (Ijamsville, Md.) will run in the 5,000 meters and the Cavaliers will compete in the 4x400m relay.
