Charlottesville, VA – The Golf Coaches Association of America announced today Virginia junior men’s golfers Derek Bard (New Hartford, N.Y.) and Jimmy Stanger (Tampa, Fla.) have been named to the PING All-East region team.

Bard was named was named to the all-region team for the second time in his career after picking up the honor last season. He entered the NCAA Championships leading the team with a 71.22 stroke average and has posted six top-10 finishes this season. He is ranked No. 43 by Golfstat and No. 44 by Golfweek in their most recent polls.

Bard led UVA in scoring in six of 12 tournaments and repeated as the medalist at the U.S. Collegiate Championships. Earlier this year he was named All-ACC for the second time in his career.

Stanger was named to the all-region team for this first time. He is second on the UVA squad with a 71.71 stroke average and has six top-10 finishes this season. He tied for first at the General Hackler Championship in March.

He ranks No. 64 in the current Golfstat rankings and No. 74 for the latest Golfweek individual poll. He picked up All-ACC honors this season.
