CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.-The No. 6 Virginia men’s track and field team and the Cavalier women open action at the NCAA Outdoor Championships Wednesday (June 8) at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.

The live results of the meet, which runs Wednesday-Saturday, will be available on VirginiaSports.com. Live action will be broadcast live on ESPN3.

The Cavaliers have six student-athletes, five men and one woman, competing in Eugene. On Wednesday, junior Henry Wynne (Westport, Conn. – seeded No. 18) will compete in the semifinals of the men’s 1,500 meters at 7:46 p.m., followed by graduate student William Gray (Birmingham, England – seeded No. 20) in the men’s 3,000m steeplechase semifinals at 8:02 p.m. To close out the day, junior Filip Mihaljevic (Livno, Bosnia and Herzegovina – seeded No. 3) and redshirt freshman Oghenakpobo Efekoro (Brooklyn, N.Y. – seeded No. 16) will compete in the men’s shot put finals at 9:30 p.m. All times are Eastern.

Junior Cleo Boyd (Kingston, Ontario – seeded No. 15) will run in the finals of the women’s 10,000 meters on Thursday (June 9) at 10:08 p.m.

On Friday (June 10), Mihaljevic (seeded No. 3) and junior Jordan Young (Winsdor, Ontario – seeded No. 17) will be competing in the men’s discus finals at 8:05 p.m. The finals of the men’s 1,500 meters and 3,000m steeplechase will be contested at 8:42 and 8:54 p.m., respectively.

Mihaljevic was third in the men’s discus and ninth in the shot put at last year’s NCAA Championships. Mihaljevic was the 2016 NCAA indoor runner-up in the shot put and was named the ACC Outdoor Championships Men’s Field Most Valuable Performer after winning the shot put and discus.

Wynne was the NCAA indoor champion in the mile in March, while Young placed sixth in the men’s discus, seventh in the hammer throw and 10th in the shot put in 2015.

Boyd, Efekoro and Gray are making their first NCAA Outdoor Championship appearance.

At the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Championships, the Virginia men finished a program-best 17th place.
