Charlottesville, Va. – Virginia men’s golfer Derek Bard (New Hartford, N.Y.) has been named to a pair of All-America teams. The Golf Coaches Association of America named Bard a PING third-team All-American while Golfweek announced him as an honorable mention selection.

It marks the seventh-consecutive season a UVA golfer has earned All-America honors.

An All-ACC selection and PING All-East Region pick, Bard led UVA as a junior with a 71.23 stroke average that tied as the third best in the ACC. He finished the season ranked No. 21 by Golfstat and No. 41 by Golfweek.

Bard had six top-five finishes in 13 tournaments and placed 17th at the NCAA Championships. He took top honors at the U.S. Collegiate Championships for the second-consecutive season.

In addition to his outstanding season in the college ranks, Bard also played at the Masters and U.S. Open tournaments this season after being granted exemptions following his runner-up finish at the 2015 U.S. Amateur Championship.

Bard is currently with the U.S. team at the Palmer Cup at Formby Golf Club in England. The competition between the top U.S. collegiate players and their counterparts from Europe takes place June 24-26.
