Susi Claims Doubles Title Of ITA Summer Circuit Tourney At Elon

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Erica Susi (Vero Beach, Fla.) a rising sophomore on the Virginia women’s tennis team, claimed the doubles title at the ITA Summer Circuit Tournament event hosted by Elon University over the holiday weekend.

Susi and her partner, Danielle Wolf of Indiana University, entered the event as the third-seeded doubles team in the event. The duo received a first-round bye before picking up four straight wins to claim the title.

After claiming 8-2 victories in the second and third rounds, Susi and Wolf defeated the second-seeded pairing of Devan McCluskey and Sammi Smith 8-2 on Sunday morning before defeating the top-seeded pairing of Abigail Forbes and Smith Hinton 8-6 in the championship match that afternoon.

Susi also advanced to the quarterfinals of the tournament in singles play, falling to Suzanne Boyden of Cal Poly to end her run in the singles portion of the event.
