Emmy (Cringe) Worthy

#UVABase alum Phil Gosselin, now with the Arizona Diamondbacks, appeared in a D-backs’ promotional video to support Jake Lamb’s case for the MLB All-Star Game Final Vote. The video is a parody of the infamous State Farm “Jake from State Farm” commercial. Fortunately Phil is a great baseball player; his acting, on the other hand… Check it out in the video above.

#Wimbledon First

Former #UVAMTennis player Treat Huey has advanced to the semifinals in Gentlemen’s Doubles at Wimbledon, making him the first-ever Filipino player to make it to the semifinals at Wimbledon. Huey is from Washington, D.C., but is a Filipino-American who competes under the flag of the Philippines, including playing on the nation’s Davis Cup team. Huey became the first-ever Filipino to make the semifinals at a Grand Slam earlier this year when he advanced to the semis of mixed doubles at the Australian Open.
