Haley Kole Named to Preseason All-ACC Team

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia volleyball senior Haley Kole (Tallahasse, Fla.) was selected to the 2016 Preseason All-ACC Team voted on by the league coaches, the Atlantic Coast Conference released on Friday (Aug. 5).
Virginia, which finished with its third-straight winning season in 2015 under head coach Dennis Hohenshelt, was picked to finish eighth in the preseason poll with a total of 101 votes. North Carolina was picked to finish first with 194 votes, while Florida State (182), Miami (159), Louisville (146) and Pitt (142) round out the top five.
UVA returns three starters and 12 letterwinners from the 2015 team that finished 18-13 last season. The Cavaliers also bring in another strong group of freshmen with the No. 30 ranked class by PrepVolleyball.com, including Kelsey Miller (Crestwood, Ky.), Jane Horner (Mission Viejo, Calif.), Chino Anukwuem (East Hanover, N.J.), Caroline Scrafford (Lakeway, Texas), Kiley Banker (West Lafayette, Ind.) and Jennifer Wineholt (San Diego, Calif.).
An ACC All-Academic Team member, Kole led the Cavaliers with 348 kills, averaging 3.00 kills per set in 2015. She was also third on the team with 231 digs and finished the season with five double-doubles.
Virginia opens the 2016 slate at home with the Cavalier Classic. The Cavaliers will host Buffalo and George Washington on Friday, Aug. 26 and Northwestern on Saturday, Aug. 27 at Memorial Gymnasium.
