Charlottesville, Va. – The Virginia women’s golf team opens its 2016-17 season this weekend at Vanderbilt’s 16th annual Mason Rudolph Championship. The 54-hole event runs Friday through Sunday at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn. The 15-team field includes Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, Chattanooga, Houston, Michigan State, Middle Tennessee, Northwestern, SMU, Troy, Tulane, UCF and Vanderbilt.

Virginia’s lineup will feature senior Lauren Diaz-Yi (Thousand Oaks, Calif.), sophomores Morgan Gonzales (Chandler, Ariz.), Anna Redding (Concord, N.C.) and Katharine Patrick (Houston, Texas) and freshman Julia Ford (Shrewsbury, Mass.). Junior Sarah Kolodzik (Bellbrook, Ohio) will compete as an individual.

Last year Virginia finished fourth in the 17-team Mason Rudolph field. Lauren Coughlin led the Hoos with a second-place finish at 11-under 205 to set the program’s 54-hole scoring record.
