Franklin, Tenn. – The Virginia women’s golf shot 10-over 298 during the final round of Vanderbilt’s Mason Rudolph Challenge and finished ninth in the 15-team field. UVA played the three-day event at 22-over 886.

Alabama ran away with the team title, posting a final-round score of 25-under 263 for a 54-hole total of 39-under 825. Second-place SMU shot 868.

Virginia was led in its season-opening tournament by an 18th-place performance from sophomore Anna Redding (Concord, N.C.). She posted a final round score of 2-over 74 for a 54-hole total of 3-over 219.

Sophomore Katharine Patrick (Houston, Texas) and senior Lauren Diaz-Yi (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) tied for 23rd place at 5-over 221. Patrick fired 75 on Sunday while Diaz-Yi finished with a 78.

Patrick’s 54-hole score equaled her career best and her place finish was her best as a collegiate.

Sophomore Morgan Gonzales (Chandler, Ariz.) finished 57th at 230 and freshman Julia Ford (Shrewsbury, Mass.) was 67th at 234. Gonzales’s final 18 holes netted a 76 while Ford had her best day, shooting 1-over 73 to lead the contingent of UVA scoring players.

Junior Sarah Kolodzik (Bellbrook, Ohio) also had a 73 during the final round. She was competing as an individual and placed 37th at 224.

The Cavaliers return to action Sept. 25-27 at the Annika Intercollegiate in Reunion, Fla.
