Toledo, Ohio – The Virginia men’s golf team finished the first day of the Inverness Intercollegiate in seventh place. The Cavaliers shot 21-over 589 over the first 36 holes. Duke leads the 13-team field at 10-under 558 while Auburn is in second place at 561.

The top Cavalier after two rounds was junior Danny Walker (Brandenton, Fla.). Playing as an individual, and not counting toward the UVA team score, Walker is in third place at 4-under 138. He had round of 70 and 68.

Senior Jimmy Stanger (Tampa, Fla.) is two shots behind Walker in fifth place. He posted scores of 1-over 72 and 3-under 68 at the historic Inverness Club.

UVA senior Derek Bard (New Hartford, N.Y.) is in 22nd place at 145 (73-72) while sophomore Thomas Walsh (High Point, N.C.) is 38th at 149 (74-75). Freshmen Luke Schaap (Potomac, Md.) and Andrew Orischak (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) are in 60th and 66th place, respectfully. Schaap had rounds of 78 and 77 while Orischak shot 78 in both rounds of his collegiate debut.
