Former #UVAMSoccer standout Derrick Etienne has been called in to the Haitian senior national team for the Caribbean Cup Qualifier. Haiti is slated to play a third-round group stage games against Guyana and away at St. Kitts Nevis. Etienne currently plays for the New York Red Bulls of the MLS. Etienne has represented Haiti at a variety of youth levels, most notably in CONCACAF Championships at the Under-17 and U-20 levels.

On Monday, the UVA men’s and women’s golf teams held their annual fundraiser in Richmond and first-year men’s assistant coach John Phillips posted the second hole-in-one in his career. Phillips made the ace on the 190-yard No. 8 hole on the James River Course. It’s the second hole-in-one for Phillips. He carded his first one as a high school freshman at the Golf Club of the Highlands.

Former #UVAMTennis player Treat Huey is in China playing in the Beijing Open this week, his second-straight ATP Tour stop in China. Huey took advantage of an offday to share this pic from the Great Wall. His former UVA teammate, Dominic Inglot, was also in China last week, playing in a different ATP Tour stop (see yesterday’s blog post for more details).
