Chapel Hill, N.C. – The Virginia women’s golf team posted the lowest score during the second round of the Tar Heel Invitational to improve to sixth place after 36 holes of play. The Cavaliers shot 5-under 283 for a two-day total of 4-over 580. Wake Forest and Alabama share the tournament lead at 569.

Sophomore Katharine Patrick (Houston, Texas) posted the best round of her career, shooting 3-under 69, to lead the Cavaliers on Saturday. She moved up to 29th place at 3-over 147.

UVA senior Lauren Diaz-Yi (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) continues to lead the team. She fired a 2-under 70 during the second round and finished the day in fifth place at 3-under 141.

Two other Cavaliers are tied for 29th position with Patrick. Sophomores Anna Redding (Concord, N.C.) and Morgan Gonzales (Chandler, Ariz.) also stand at 3-over 147. Redding shot 71 on Saturday while Gonzales posted a score of 73. Freshman Julia Ford (Shrewsbury, Mass.) is in 68th place at 153, including a second-round score of 77.

Sophomore Rachel Corry (Ridgefield, Conn.), competing as an individual, is in 47th place at 150. She shot 73.
