CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 8 Virginia field hockey team (11-7, 3-3 ACC) closes out the regular season by hosting James Madison (11-5, 3-2 CAA) on Sunday, Oct. 30 at 1 p.m. at University Hall Turf Field in Charlottesville, Va.

Live stats will be available through the GameTracker link on VirginiaSports.com as well as being available through the Virginia Game Day app. The game will also stream live as an ACC Network Extra game online on ESPN3 and on the WatchESPN app.

Sunday’s game will be the Cavaliers’ annual Senior Day with all nine of the Cavaliers’ fourth and fifth-years set to be honored in a special ceremony that will take place on the field right after the conclusion of the game.

The Cavaliers moved up from No. 9 to No. 8 in this week’s Penn Monto/NFHCA Coaches’ Poll while James Madison, which had been No. 19 in last week’s poll, fell out of the top-20.

Virginia is looking to snap a two-game losing streak after dropping a pair of close top-10 match-ups, falling 3-2 in overtime to No. 7 Louisville and 2-1 at No. 3 Maryland.

Senior striker Riley Tata (Virginia Beach, Va.) has had a strong finish to the regular-season, scoring five goals in the last five games. Tata scored her 10th goal of the season at Maryland on Tuesday and has now tallied double-digit goals in each of her four seasons at UVA.

Tata and senior midfielder Lucy Hyams (Whitstable, England) are both on the brink of joining junior midfielder Tara Vittese (Cherry Hill, N.J.) in UVA’s 100-career point club. Tata and Hyams each come into the game with 95 points in their careers. Vittese ranks 10th in the Cavalier record book with 119 career points.

Vittese currently leads the team with 29 points this season on a team-high 11 goals. Vittese is tied with Hyams for the team assists lead with seven.

Sophomore goalkeeper Carrera Lucas (Brooklandville, Md.) leads the ACC with 5.64 saves per game and is 12th in the nation with a .752 save percentage.

James Madison will be trying to snap a two-game skid when it plays at Hofstra on Friday afternoon before taking on the Cavaliers on Sunday. Last week, the Dukes dropped a 4-3 overtime game at William & Mary and fell 4-2 against No. 7 Louisville. Miranda Rigg leads JMU with 32 points on 16 goals. Hannah Hall has 10 goals with nine assists. Goalkeeper Sara Kraeutler is 11-5 this season with a .634 save percentage.

The Cavaliers lead the all-time series 31-12-1 and have won the last four match-ups.

Virginia finished conference play tied for third place in the ACC alongside North Carolina, Louisville and Boston College with a 3-3 record. By virtue of tiebreakers, the Cavaliers will be the No. 6 seed in the ACC Tournament, facing third-seeded Boston College in the first round at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3, at Wake Forest in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. All of the games of the tournament will air on the ACC Regional Sports Network.
