CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – In the first of two remaining home weekends, the Virginia volleyball team hosts Syracuse on Friday night at 7 p.m. and Boston College on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Memorial Gymnasium.

Virginia (5-19, 2-10 ACC) picked up their second ACC win of the season after topping Clemson, 3-1, on the road to sweep the series over the Tigers. The Cavaliers had a great offensive night with a .385 hitting percentage, recording 55 kills, while holding the Tigers to a .167 attack percentage.
Seniors Jasmine Burton (West Hills, Calif.) and Haley Kole (Tallahassee, Fla.) led the team with 17 kills each. Kole has moved into ninth all-time with 1,320 career kills. Burton became the 19th player to reach 1,000 kills against Clemson last Saturday, Burton now has 1,010 career kills to rank 16th in UVA history.
Syracuse (6-17, 5-8 ACC) is coming off a 3-1 loss at Boston College on Wednesday. The Orange has played well at the net this season, ranking second in the conference with 2.91 blocks per set. Leah Levert leads the team and is fifth in the ACC with 1.33 blocks per set. Offensively, Mackenzie Weaver is averaging 2.72 kills per set and Santita Ebangwese is hitting a team-best .319.
Virginia has lost its last three meetings against Syracuse, including a close 3-2 loss at Syracuse last season. The last win for the Cavaliers came in a neutral site meeting on Sept. 13, 2003 when UVA won 3-1. The Orange leads the all-time series 5-3.
Boston College (7-16, 2-11 ACC) has won two-straight matches, including a 3-1 win over Syracuse on Wednesday. The Eagles are averaging 11.6 kills per set, 13.5 digs per set and 1.6 blocks per set. Sol Calvete leads the team with 2.48 kills per set and Madisen Lydon is pacing the back line with 3.21 digs per set.
UVA has won four-straight matches against Boston College, most recently winning 3-0 at BC last season. Virginia holds a 16-3 advantage in the all-time series against the Eagles and is 8-0 in matches at Memorial Gymnasium.
Virginia will begin a four-match road trip at Louisville (Nov. 11) and Notre Dame (Nov. 13) next weekend.
