CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia softball program added seven signees for the 2017-18 academic year, first-year head coach Joanna Hardin announced with her first signing class on Friday (Nov. 11).

The Cavaliers signed Savana Avilla (Phoenix, Ariz.), Hayley Busby (Phoenix, Ariz.), Ashley Jennings (Forest, Va.), Molly Keshin (Greenwich, Conn.), Rachel Keshin (Greenwich, Conn.), Patty Maye Ohanian (Burke, Va.) and Samantha Thomas (Buford, Ga.) to National Letters of Intent. The seven players will be eligible to compete for Virginia beginning with the 2017-18 academic year.

“Our staff has been anticipating signing day for months now so it’s exciting that the day is here,” Hardin said. “Being our first class to sign, we are excited about the experience and diversity they will bring to the program. We have young women coming to us from all over the country- Connecticut, Arizona, Georgia, and Virginia. It’s just exciting to have a vision for the future and know these young women are going to be a significant part of that future”

The Cavaliers open the 2017 season at the Kajikawa Classic hosted by Arizona State on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017. Virginia will play five games as a part of the season-opening event.
