CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia volleyball seniors Jasmine Burton (West Hills, Calif.) and Haley Kole (Tallahassee, Fla.) were named to the All-State first team, the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced on Monday (Dec.19).

Burton led Virginia with a .282 hitting percentage and 36 service aces in the 2016 season. The outside hitter finished with 341 kills to average 2.84 per set, second on the team, and had 125 digs and 79 blocks. An All-ACC second team selection, Burton continued to improve over the second half the year, averaging 3.73 kills per set on a .334 hitting percentage in 15 matches. Burton closed her career with 1,139 kills to rank 12th, and finished with a .271 career hitting percentage, which ranks sixth all-time in UVA history.

Kole led UVA with 418 kills, averaging 3.48 kills per set to rank 10th in the ACC at the end of the season. She recorded double-figure kills in 21 matches, including a career-high 29 kills against Virginia Tech. Kole was third on the team with 181 digs and finished the season with four double-doubles. She concluded her UVA career ranked fourth all-time with 1,457 career kills and she ranks ninth with a 3.16 kills per set average.
