CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 24 Virginia (5-2) wrestling team opens competition at the Virginia Duals on Friday (Jan. 13), facing off against The Citadel and North Dakota State in the York River Pool of the annual event. Virginia faces The Citadel (1-2) at 11 a.m. and North Dakota State (8-1) at 1 p.m.

Competition is being hosted at the Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, Va. The tournament features 12 teams from across the nation, including nationally-ranked Virginia, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma and Arizona State. Also competing in the event and receiving votes in the national rankings are Chattanooga and North Dakota State.

Cavaliers In The Rankings
Virginia features three wrestlers ranked among the nation’s best in their weight classes with a trio of top 10 wrestlers. Freshman Jack Mueller (Dallas, Texas), redshirt senior George DiCamillo (Highland Heights, Ohio) and redshirt junior Andrew Atkinson (Lynchburg, Va.) all represent the Cavaliers.

The Virginia Duals Field
The tournament field features 12 teams across four brackets. The Cavaliers compete in the York River Pool with The Citadel and North Dakota State. Upon completion of pool competition, teams advance to one of three brackets: Bronze, Silver or Gold to crown a winner of the event.

The bronze and silver brackets wrestle Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. before closing out Saturday morning at 10 a.m., while the gold bracket will determine the top four teams on Saturday. Wrestling in the gold bracket begins at 2 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
