Former #UVABase and current Washington Nationals first baseman Ryan Zimmerman was among the 11 residents of the District of Columbia to be named the 2016 Washingtonians of the Year. Zimmerman was lauded not as much for his contributions on the field but for his work with the ziMS Foundation, which he founded in 2006 as a way to raise money for multiple sclerosis research.
