In the 60m hurdle prelims, sophomore Ciara Leonard (Elkins Park, Pa.) set a personal best in 8.58, which ranks in a tie for fourth on UVA’s all-time list.

The 4x400m relay team of Ezumah, freshman Anna Jefferson (Warren, Mich.), junior Holly Sullivan (Chester Springs, Pa.) and Smith placed third in 3:52.27.

“We need to learn to execute in competition what we do correctly in practice,” UVA director of track and field/cross country Bryan Fetzer said. “We cannot be on one week and off the next. Consistency need to take place if we are going to reach our desired outcome.

Next up, the Cavaliers travel to Boston for a pair of meets. UVA will compete at the Crimson Elite Meet hosted by Harvard on Feb. 3 and the Scarlett & White Meet hosted by Boston University on Feb. 4.

“I am excited to make the trip to Boston with the entire women’s team next weekend,” Fetzer said. “It will be the first time that all of our event groups will compete together.”
