Two Alums Competing in the Davis Cup this Weekend

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Two former Virginia men’s tennis players, Treat Huey ’08 and Dominic Inglot ’09, are competing this weekend, Feb. 3-5, in Davis Cup ties.
Inglot and his teammates from Great Britain downed Canada, 3-2, to advance to the quarterfinals. Inglot partnered with Jamie Murray in doubles, battling Daniel Nestor and Vasek Pospisil for a 7-6 (1), 7-6 (3), 7-6 (3), 6-3 victory on Saturday. Inglot was a member of the 2015 U.K. squad that won the Davis Cup championship.
Huey and his teammates on Team Philippines defeated Indonesia 4-1 in the Asia/Oceania II first round this weekend in Manila. Huey and his partner Francis Casey Alcantara downed Anthony Susanto and Sunu-Wahyu Trijati 6-2, 6-4, 6-4. Huey has a 15-5 record in Davis Cup doubles matches, the most-ever doubles victories by a Filipino player in the tournament. Huey was also honored on the court after his match by the ITF by being presented with the Davis Cup Commitment Award for playing nine straight years in the tournament.
