Kauai, Hawaii – The No. 4 Virginia men’s golf team stayed atop the leaderboard following the second round of play at the John Burns Intercollegiate in Lihue, Hawaii. The Cavaliers shot 5-under 283 on Thursday for a 36-hole total of 25-under 551. They enter Friday’s final round with a six stroke advantage over 18th-ranked Texas A&M and are 15 shots ahead of third-place UNLV.

Senior Jimmy Stanger (Tampa, Fla.) continues to lead UVA. He shot 2-over 74 to drop back to second place in stroke play at 8-under 136. Stanger opened the tournament by posting a school record round of 10-under 62.

Fellow senior Derek Bard (New Hartford, N.Y.) is in fifth place after shooting even par 72. He enters the final round at 6-under 138. Junior Danny Walker (Bradenton, Fla.) and freshman Andrew Orischak (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) are tied for ninth place at 4-under 140.

Orischak led the Hoos during the second round with a score of 3-under 69. That is his lowest round as a collegiate. Sophomore Thomas Walsh (High Point, N.C.) improved to 44th position with a 71 after opening the event with a 75.
