Christiansburg, Va. – For the second consecutive day, Virginia freshman Bryce Shelton (Vienna, Va.) qualified for the NCAA Championships at the Zone A Diving Championships at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center in Christiansburg, Va.

A day after earning a spot in the NCAA field for the 1-meter competition, Shelton finished third in the 3-meter event on Tuesday. He posted a score of 719.90 points. Classmate Samson Miller (Fairfax, Va.) also advanced to the finals in the 3-meter, finishing 15th at 629.35.

On the women’s side, UVA placed three divers in the 1-meter finals. Junior Corey Johnson (Ambler, Pa.) posted the team’s best mark, finishing 13th with 508.65 points. Sophomore Kirsten Parkinson (Stamford, Conn.) was 16th at 488.55 and sophomore Kylie Towbin (New Canaan, Conn.) was 17th at 487.95.

The Zone A Diving Championships concludes Wednesday with the platform competition for both the men and women. The top six men advance to the NCAAs while the top four on the men’s side will move on to nationals.
