CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia women’s tennis team (5-4) continues its spring break road trip through Big 10 country, facing No. 9 Michigan (7-3) at 2:30 p.m. on Friday (March 10),

The match will be played at the Varsity Tennis Center and links to live scoring and video will be available through links at VirginiaSports.com.

Virginia is coming off a hard-fought 5-2 loss at No. 2 Ohio State on Wednesday night where the Cavaliers got singles wins from freshman Rosie Johanson (Abbotsford, British Columbia), who is ranked No. 94 in the ITA women’s singles rankings, and sophomore Meghan Kelley (Falmouth, Maine). Both Cavaliers picked up wins over nationally-ranked foes as the Buckeyes have five players ranked nationally in singles.

The Cavaliers also feature the No. 75 ranked singles player in junior Cassie Mercer (Huntington, W.V.) and the No. 43 doubles team in Mercer and freshman Chloe Gullickson (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.). The duo of Gullickson and Mercer defeated the No. 31 ranked doubles team from Ohio State on Tuesday night.

Michigan is coming off a 5-2 loss at Southern Cal a week ago.

The Wolverines feature three players ranked in the latest ITA women’s singles rankings, including No. 20 Kate Fahey, No. 30 Brienne Minor and No. 119 Alex Najarian. Michigan also features the No. 2 ranked doubles team in Fahey and Najarian, and the No. 18 ranked team in Minor and Mira Ruder-Hook.

The Cavaliers are 3-1 all-time against the Wolverines, winning the last meeting 4-2 in Charlottesville in 2016.
