Hoos Finish Second Round at Linger Longer in Third

Greensboro, Ga. – The No. 8 Virginia men’s golf team is in third place following Monday’s second round of play at the Linger Longer Invitational in Greensboro, Ga. The Cavaliers shot 4-under 284 for a two-day total of 9-under 567 at the Great Waters Course at Reynolds Lake Oconee. No. 4 Baylor leads the 15-team field at 26-under 550. Alabama is in second place at 566.
Senior Derek Bard (New Hartford, N.Y.) continues to lead Virginia. After shooting 69 on Sunday to open the tournament, he posted a second-round score of 1-under 71. His 36-hole total stands at 5-under 139. He enters Tuesday’s final round in 10th place.
Freshman Luke Schaap (Potomac, Md.) had UVA’s best second-round score, shooting 3-under 69. He jumped up to 18th overall at 2-under 142.
Senior Jimmy Stanger (Tampa, Fla.), sophomore Thomas Walsh (High Point, N.C.) and junior Danny Walker (Bradenton, Fla.) all shot 72 on Monday. Stanger and Walsh are tied for 21st at 143 while Walker is in 29th place at 145.
