CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Senior Besser Dyson (Alexandria, Va.) was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week after leading the No. 15 Virginia women’s lacrosse team to a pair of wins last week.

Dyson totaled six goals and had three assists to lead the Cavaliers with nine points on the week. The attacker finished recorded a hat trick in the 9-6 win at James Madison and had three goals and three assists in the Cavaliers’ 18-5 win over then-No. 17 Duke.

After UVA fell behind 2-0 early at JMU, Dyson scored her first of the day to tie the game at three. Dyson hit the first goal of the second half that gave UVA a 6-4 lead, and scored again to make it 8-5 and help secure the win. Dyson had a career-high six points in the win over Duke. She scored two of UVA’s first three goals that gave UVA a 3-0 lead. Dyson scored the opening goal just 11 seconds into the contest.

This is the first ACC weekly honor for Dyson and the second-straight Offensive Player of the Week award for the Cavaliers.

Virginia will be back in action on Wednesday, March 29 when it hosts Oregon at 7 p.m. at KlÃÆ’¶ckner Stadium.
