CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 32 Virginia women’s tennis team (7-7, 5-2 ACC) returns home for a single match on Friday (March 31), hosting No. 29 Wake Forest (13-5, 3-3 ACC) at 3:30 p.m. The match is scheduled to be played at the Boar’s Head Sports Club due to inclement weather.

Admission to all women’s tennis matches is free. Fans who can’t make it to the match can follow the action through live stats and video linked at VirginiaSports.com or with updates through the program’s official Twitter account @UVAWomensTennis.

Virginia is coming off a three-match road trip against ACC foes that saw the Cavaliers defeat No. 34 Notre Dame before falling to No. 17 Duke and No. 4 North Carolina. The home contest with Wake Forest breaks up a stretch of matches that sees Virginia play 8-of-9 on the road.

Virginia is led by two players in the latest ITA women’s singles rankings with freshman Rosie Johanson (Abbotsford, British Columbia) ranked No. 44, while junior Cassie Mercer (Huntington, W.V.) is ranked No. 94. The Cavaliers have the No. 29 doubles team with the pairing of Mercer and freshman Chloe Gullickson (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.).

Wake Forest enters the weekend with two players ranked in singles. Kimmy Guerin is ranked No. 62 in the ITA women’s singles rankings, while Emma Davis is ranked No. 110. The Demon Deacons do not have a duo in the doubles rankings.

Wake Forest has ACC wins over Clemson, Florida State and Virginia Tech, but has dropped matches to Miami, Notre Dame and NC State. The Cavaliers have faced three of those teams, picking up wins against all three opponents: Virginia Tech, Notre Dame and NC State.

Virginia and Wake Forest played each other earlier this season in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend as a non-conference match with the Demon Deacons picking up the 4-0 victory over the Cavaliers in that first meeting.
