CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Senior Katie Park (Scottsdale, Ariz.) added National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) First Team All-Region honors to her growing list of 2017 accolades. She is the first Cavalier listed on the Mid-Atlantic All-Region team since 2013.

In her final season at Virginia, Park put together a career-year leading the team in nearly all offensive categories including batting average (.382), runs (34), hits (68), doubles (12) and total bases (111). She finished the season on a 13-game hit streak and reached base safely in her final 15 games. Earlier this month, she was recognized as a First Team All-ACC selection for the first time in her career.

The fourth-year catcher helped the Cavaliers reach the ACC Tournament after a three-year hiatus. The Cavaliers won nine conference games under first-year Head Coach Joanna Hardin, tied for the second most in school history.

Park’s .382 batting average is currently the sixth-best in the ACC and was the eighth-highest in school history. She became one of two Virginia players since 2005 to collect 60 hits in a season and her 67 hits are the seventh most in a single season in program history. She finished her career ranked in the top-10 in Virginia softball history in doubles (10th), home runs (8th), RBIs (8th) and total bases (6th).

The 2017 NFCA Division I All-America teams will be announced at approximately 5 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, May 31, via NFCA.org.
