Freelance writer Jay Edwards penned a fantastic feature on former #UVAFB linebacker Tucker Windle that ran in Tuesday’s Charlotte Observer. Windle, who is a project manager for Showalter Construction in Charlotte as well as an assistant football coach at his former high school, Charlotte Catholic, discovered in April that he had a golf-ball sized tumor near the top of his brain stem. Edwards chronicles his recovery from the surgery to remove the thankfully benign tumor and the support system that has gotten him through the ordeal.

In other alumni news, former #UVABase All-American Matt Thaisswas promoted to double-A Mobile Tuesday and wasted no time in making an impact, hitting an RBI double for the eventual winning run in the BayBears’ 1-0 win at Birmingham.
