CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia athletics will host two preseason events on Saturday (Aug. 12). The men’s soccer team will play its first exhibition game of the 2017 season against Wright State at 1 p.m. at Klöckner Stadium. The football Meet the Team Day is later that evening with gates opening at 5 p.m. Admission and parking are free for both events.

The Virginia men’s soccer team, ranked No. 13 nationally in the preseason United Soccer Coaches Poll, will play 12 games at Klockner Stadium this year. Gates for Saturday’s match open at noon. There will be a number of youth activities on the lower grass field, including inflatable games, a balloon artist and face painting.

The football Meet the Team Day and annual Movie Night will also include the volleyball and field hockey teams. The parking lots around Scott Stadium will open at 4 p.m. with gates opening at 5 p.m. Inflatable games, a balloon artist and face painting will be available for youth. Members of the field hockey and volleyball teams will greet fans and sign autographs beginning at 6 p.m. and fans will have the opportunity to meet the football team and receive autographs on the field at 6:30 p.m.

Following the autograph session, the popular 2017 film “Beauty and the Beast” will be shown on the Hoo Vision screen at 7:30 p.m. Fans are welcome to watch the movie from the field and are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs. Seating is also available in the stands at Scott Stadium.

Both events will feature giveaways for all fans while supplies last, including Papa John’s pizza, Pepsi products and Nike t-shirts, available in youth and adult sizes. In addition, the first 500 youth in attendance at Scott Stadium will receive a voucher for free Ben & Jerry’s ice cream to be redeemed during the event.
