#USOpen

Former #UVAMTEN standout J.C. Aragone picked up the biggest win of his young professional career on Tuesday. Aragone, who graduated in May, downed Italian Marco Cecchinato, currently ranked No. 101 in the world, to advance to the second round of US Open qualifying. The ATP caught up with him after the match where Aragone shared, among other things, the fact that he wasn’t even initially even in the draw but was granted a last minute wildcard to play. He will now face world No. 256 Riccardo Bellotti on Thursday in the second round.

Champion Hoo

Congratulations to former #UVABase standout Kenny Towns and the Schaumburg Boomers who were crowned the Frontier League East Division Champions last night. The team will now go on to play for the independent league’s overall title. Towns is in his second season with the Boomers. He is currently on the injured reserve list but was batting .259 with five home runs in 38 games this season.
