Charlottesville, Va. – The Virginia women’s golf team opens its 2017-18 season this weekend at Vanderbilt’s 17th annual Mason Rudolph Championship. The 54-hole event runs Friday through Sunday at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn. A total of 10 of the 15 squads scheduled to contend for the Mason Rudolph team title participated in NCAA postseason play last year and six players who finished among the top 25 in stroke play at the 2017 NCAA Championships

The 15-team field includes Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona State, Auburn, Charlotte, Chattanooga, Clemson, Houston, Middle Tennessee, North Carolina, Northwestern, South Carolina, UCF and Vanderbilt.

Virginia’s lineup will feature juniors Morgan Gonzales (Chandler, Ariz.), Anna Redding (Concord, N.C.) and Katharine Patrick (Houston, Texas), sophomore Julia Ford (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and freshman Beth Lillie (Fullerton, Calif.). Sophomore Kate Harper (Isle of Palms, S.C.) will compete as an individual.

Last year Virginia finished ninth in the 15-team Mason Rudolph field. Redding led the Hoos with an 18th-place finish.

Tee times begin at 8:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, with play beginning at 8 a.m. on Sunday. UVA is paired with Houston and Chattanooga during Friday’s opening round. Those teams are scheduled to tee off starting at 9:05 a.m. from the first tee.
